Technology

We specialize in using open-source and open standards-based software tools and frameworks to solve real-world problems. This provides our clients with a flexible solution, high return on their investment, and prevents "vendor lock-in" associated with proprietary solutions.

Software Development Tooling
For software development, we employ the Eclipse tooling platform. Eclipse is an open platform for tool integration built by an open community of tool providers. Operating under a open source paradigm, with a common public license that provides royalty free source code and world wide redistribution rights, the eclipse platform provides tool developers with ultimate flexibility and control over their software technology.

Software Deployment & Lifecycle Management
For wireless or wired remote deployment of software components to embedded devices or even workstations, we adopted Open Services Gateway Initiative (OSGi) standards. The OSGi mission is to specify, create, advance, and promote an open service platform for the delivery and management of multiple applications and services to all types of networked devices in home, vehicle, mobile and other environments.

Embedded Java Runtimes
For runtime Java platforms, Band XI relies on IBM's Java Virtual Machine and Class Libraries, whether the customer requirements dictate Websphere MicroEnvironment (WME) or Websphere Custom Environment (WCE).
We can deploy our applications to a wide range of embedded platforms running Linux, QNX, Palm OS, and Windows (Mobile/CE/XP/2000/NT), on x86/ARM/PPC/MIPS processors.
