Since its founding in 2005, Band XI International has grown into a diversified software, systems, hardware, engineering, and professional services company.

Band XI began as a small consulting company when founders John Cunningham and Brett Hackleman left IBM to carve out a niche market in agile development of embedded Java systems.  As new and different opportunities arose of the years, Band XI adapted to the challenges, both technological and organizational.

Today, BXI International operates as a network of operating entities:

  • BXI Research – explores research and development opportunities through partnerships with government and academia
  • BXI Defense Systems – applies the fruits of research and development to the needs of the uniformed services of the United States and allied countries
  • BXI Health Systems – employs technology developed in research and development and defense applications to improving the quality and affordability of healthcare worldwide
  • BXI Industrial Systems - commercializes defense technology for applications in the mining, construction, and production control markets.
  • BXI Solutions – provides experts consulting, mentoring, and training services for a variety of hardware and software markets
  • BXI Tracking Systems – builds end to end tracking solutions for high value assets, such as fleets of vehicles
  • Bad Elf – designs, develops, manufactures, and markets hardware accessories and software for the iPod, iPhone, and iPad platforms.
